Avoid Smoke Alarm Penalties When Selling Your Home
Selling your home can be an overwhelming endeavor. Between finalizing repairs, completing paperwork, and organizing removals, the to-do list feels never-ending. The last thing you need is another task, especially one that can lead to hefty penalties.
In Queensland, failing to have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms installed in all bedrooms and legally required locations can result in penalties of up to 0.15% of your property’s sale price. We understand that smoke alarm compliance can be a daunting responsibility during an already stressful time.
But here’s the good news – we’ve got you covered. Introducing our Sellers Compliance Service. Let us take the stress away and ensure a smooth sale from only $119 per alarm for upgrades or a once off $99 if you believe your property meets requirements.

Why Upgrade Your Smoke Alarms
Upgrading your home’s smoke alarms enhances your family’s safety in case of a fire. Interconnected alarms and alarms in bedrooms ensure that everyone is alerted to a fire, even if they are asleep with bedroom doors closed. This gives you and your family more time to escape safely.
Upgraded means that your home meets the latest requirements of the Fire and Emergency Services (Domestic Smoke Alarms) Amendment Bill 2016. By 2027, all dwellings in Queensland must comply with the following:
- Photoelectric (AS 3786-2014) smoke alarms
- Interconnected alarms: If one goes off, they all go off
- Smoke alarms not older than ten years
- Smoke alarms installed in each bedroom
- Smoke alarms installed in hallways outside of bedrooms
- If no hallway, smoke alarms must be in the most likely path of escape
